1. **What age group are the camps designed for?**

Most of our camps are designed for teenagers aged 13-18. We also have GAP year camp for older youth age 18-22, who have finished highschool and looking for more adventures and life experience.

2. **What are the dates for the camps?**

We offer multiple sessions throughout the summer. Please check our website for specific dates and availability.

3. **What activities will the campers participate in?**

Campers will engage in a variety of activities including hiking, camping, zip-lining, boating, exploring caves, visiting waterfalls, and climbing mountain tops. We also include cultural experiences such as visiting local Pueblos, museums and archaeological sites. Each camp will also be given the opportunity to volunteer and give back in some way to the communities visited.

4. **What is the cost of the camp and what does it include?**

The cost of each camp varies based on length of camp, locations visited and activities included. Once your teen arrived in SMA it includes all transportation, all meals, accommodation, activity fees, and supervision by trained staff members.

 

5. **How do you ensure the safety of the campers?**

Safety is our top priority. We have certified guides and trained staff to supervise all activities. Our camp follows strict safety protocols, and we provide a comprehensive orientation to all campers upon arrival. Emergency services are available, and our staff is trained in first aid and emergency response.

6. **What is the ratio of staff to campers?**

We maintain a low staff-to-camper ratio to ensure personalized attention and supervision. Typically, we have one staff member for every 6 campers.

7. **What are the accommodations like?**

Campers will stay in both cabins and tents, always in very safe locations. While we make every effort to ensure the campers' comfort, it's important to note that this is a rugged adventure experience. Our accommodations are designed to provide a secure and authentic outdoor adventure environment, equipped with necessary amenities for a pleasant stay.

8. **What should my child bring to camp?**

We provide a detailed packing list upon registration. Essential items include comfortable clothing, hiking boots, a hat, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and any personal medications.

9. **How is food handled?**

We provide nutritious and balanced meals suitable for teenagers. We can accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies if notified in advance. We will frequently be eating local cuisine prepared in traditional, authentic mexican cooking styles, but will keep nutritious backup options on hand if a particular local dish doesn’t work for your teen.

10. **How can I communicate with my child during camp?**

Campers are not permitted to use cell phones throughout the camp, but we have scheduled times for them to call home and check in. In case of emergencies, parents can reach out to our camp director.

11. **What happens in case of an emergency?**

We have an emergency response plan in place, and our staff is trained to handle various situations. Parents will be immediately notified in case of any emergencies.

12. **What is your refund/cancellation policy?**

Our refund and cancellation policies are outlined on our website. Generally, we offer partial refunds up to a certain date before the camp session starts.

13. **How do you handle homesickness?**

Our staff is trained to support campers experiencing homesickness. We provide a nurturing environment and encourage campers to participate in activities and make new friends.

14. **What measures are in place for health concerns?**

We follow all health guidelines and protocols to ensure the safety of our campers and staff. This includes regular sanitation, health checks, and protocols for managing any potential illnesses. Our staff is trained in first aid and emergency response, and we have procedures in place to handle various health concerns efficiently.

 

15. **How do I register my child for camp?**

Registration can be completed online through our website. If you have any questions or need assistance, our customer service team is available to help.

16. **What are the transportation arrangements to and from Mexico?**

Families are responsible for flying their child to either BJX (Bajío International Airport) or QRO (Querétaro International Airport). A member of our team will be there to meet your child upon arrival and ensure a safe transfer to the camp. Detailed instructions and contact information will be provided upon registration to facilitate smooth travel arrangements.

17. **What if parents would like to fly with their teen?**

Parents are welcome to fly to Mexico with their teens and enjoy a vacation in beautiful San Miguel de Allende while their kids are at camp. San Miguel de Allende offers a variety of activities and attractions for a memorable stay:

  •  **Explore the Historic Center**: Wander through the charming cobblestone streets, visit the iconic Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, and enjoy the vibrant local culture.
  •  **Visit Local Art Galleries and Workshops**: San Miguel is known for its thriving arts scene. Explore numerous galleries and artist workshops showcasing local and international talent.
  • **Relax in Hot Springs**: Enjoy a relaxing day at one of the nearby hot springs, such as La Gruta or Escondido Place, which offer thermal pools and beautiful natural surroundings.
